This is the SpringThing 2022 version of the game.
Firstly, thank you to our beta testers for helping to find problems.
The game has been authored with the Strand engine. An open-source system for parser and choice IF. The game often presents both choice and input prompts at the same time.
For example:
Choices are usually shortcuts for command, which you can (usually) type if you wish. Sometimes, the command input box will disappear. For example, in conversations with characters;
In these cases, you navigate a conversation using choice options.
In some cases, your conversations can require "focused input". This is when you need to type in a specific word or object. This feature is to avoid having "spoiler choices".
For example, you're prompted to offer something you're carrying:
Saved games are stored in the browser's memory cache, which means they are lost when you quit the browser unless they are saved into the "savegame" subdirectory.
The "savegame" directory is mapped to your browser persistent cache. This also means if you clear the browser cache, the game will also be lost.
The game supports multi-level undo
.
You can undo
and keep undoing as far as you like. Often the game will automatically prompt you for undo, or will automatically rewind the plot to some safe checkpoint.
The game has a built-in help system, type help
for info. This provides hints and clues to the puzzles.
There is a menu option to enable a transcript, which is a text recording of your commands and the game responses.
When you enable transcript, it will start recording.
When you disable transcript, it will stop recording and offer a download text file of the captured gameplay.
The transcript is a simple text file, although various markdown elements are still present in the text.
Be sure to save this file, as once you re-enable transcript it will start afresh.
Spoiler Warning!
It's recommended to try the built-in help
command before reading these as a last resort.
Good luck!
