Strand Games Technology
Strand Games would like to hire a narrative designer/writer to work on a Sherlock Holmes interactive graphic novel.
A detective crime thriller in the style of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Set in London 1888, you are Sherlock Holmes who is engaged on the case of the Whitechapel murders aka "Jack the Ripper".
The game will be a 2 hour graphical novel with approx 30k words. The game mechanic will be a choice-based branching narrative.
Most of the gameplay will be character dialogue, although objects and locations play a part.
So far, there is an outline game design, together with the main characters, major scenes, suspects and endings.
A narrative designer/writer is needed to develop the scene details, character dialogue and to introduce additional branching, clues and intrigue.
The graphics are created using 3D rendered scenes overlaid with moving characters.
There is a budget of £2k (~$2500) for writing & narrative design which will include implementing very basic choices in Strand (a choice scripting language).
The writer won't need to implement any complex game logic, only describe it for implementation.
Timescales are flexible, as this can be a part-time gig or side project, but the aim is to have a game release by April 2026.
