Another thing - it is possible to get the rice and the bowl from the guru without covering your wristband. Is this correct? FWIW had a shufty at a walkthrough for the pawn, (Spoiler) in order to know what you need to do for the guru.

The Pawn is also available for the 128k Spectrum, also without graphics. It looks the same as the 48k version.

I meant by installing virtualbox and using that to run other linux distributions without wiping your current setup. Sorry if I was not any clearer. You should be able to get 32-bit ISO's (linux mint etc) still.

Have to agree with your initial assessment, but it is really weird. There's a first time for weird issues, have filed this away in my cranium for future shoukd something like this happen again :)
